The world is changing for the better 🖤 The proof? This iconic American brand has invested into the plant based food market adopting to the demand for vegan foods like milk alternatives. They have launched their new Oat Milk in 3 Flavors.
I was at my small, locally owned grocery store in philadelphia tonight & discovered this new item. Usually oat milk is made by brands that people aren’t that familiar with. At least not as popular (yet) as Quaker and not in as many grocery stores either. For example: Oatly or Califa.
I was so happy to see this. I literally said ”holy shit” out loud in isle 6. I ditched dairy 6 years ago because of the horrific ethical practices in dairy industry & the effects on my health.
So, you can see why I’m enthusiastic about more options showing up everywhere.
My reaction was because now nearly every grocery store will have the option of oat milk in it. This is due to Quaker’s long standing grip on their market space in the food industry. Their products are already in virtually all stores and even convenient stores.
As you may know: Dairy is Scary! “Milk and other dairy products are the top source of saturated fat in the American diet, contributing to heart disease, type 2 diabetes, and Alzheimer’s disease. Studies have also linked dairy to an increased risk of breast, ovarian, and prostate cancers.”
Dairy hurts the environment: Methane gas emissions aside, water used for cleaning dairy facilities is an issue too - “A dairy facility that uses an automatic “flushing” system for manure can use up to 150 gallons of water per cow, per day. A medium size dairy factory farm facility houses between 200 and 700 cows (the EPA considers 700 dairy cattle the lower limit for a Concentrated Animal Feeding Operation). Using the maximum figure, this would mean that a medium-sized dairy factory farm would use 104,850 gallons of water every day – just for flushing purposes” http://www.onegreenplanet.org/animalsandnature/the-dairy-industry-and-the-environment/
Have you ditched dairy too? Have you tried this oat milk out yet? If so please leave a comment below! xo - AJ
