Rain 🌧️ (2010 Version) Is Out Now
Rain 🌧️ (2010 Version) is out now everywhere. It's my one-take cover of Patty Griffin's "Rain 🌧️," recorded in 2010 and pulled from the archive after more than fifteen years. Listen here.
The Story Behind Rain 🌧️
In 2010 I recorded Patty Griffin's "Rain 🌧️" in one take. Just voice and guitar into a laptop mic. I posted it to YouTube that year, and Patty Griffin shared it. Then the recording sat in my archive for more than fifteen years.
Patty's music had a direct influence on my songwriting style, so finally putting this one out feels right.
Rain 🌧️ in My Own Words
A Never-Released Acoustic Cover From the Archive
A never-released cover pulled from the archives — low-fi, acoustic, and moody, with the quiet weight of autumn melancholy.
No studio polish, no second take, no overdubs.
“I recorded it in one take on a laptop in 2010 and never planned to put it out. When Patty shared it, that meant the world to me. It isn't polished, and that's the point. It sounds like a small room, an autumn night and who I was back then.”
